kek Author Guidelines - Baku Dialogues Journal

Author Guidelines

We expect all of the essays selected for publication in Baku Dialogues to be between 3,500 and 6,500 words in length. As a policy journal, we forgo the use of footnotes and other trappings of formal academic scholarship like abstracts, keywords, bibliographies and so on.

Manuscripts should be submitted in well‑written American English with source notes for fact checking purposes as appropriate. Such works should be submitted by e‑mail attachment and as .doc or .docx files only. The text should be formatted in the "Times New Roman" font, 12 point, 1.0‑spaced, paragraphs well‑defined, and (optional) sub‑headings clearly indicated.

Please put "Submission" in the subject line and include your contact information in the body of the email, which should be sent to Baku‑Dialogues@ADA.edu.az. Please also include a short two to three sentence biography at the end of your submitted manuscript. All emails will be answered with all deliberate speed, ideally within two weeks. During this period, we insist on exclusivity: authors should not, under any circumstances, “shop around” their manuscript.

The deadline for submitting manuscripts reflects our quarterly publication cycle thusly:

September 30th for the Winter issue, December 31st for the Spring issue, March 31st for the Summer issue, and June 30th for the Fall issue.

Prospective authors may also contact the editors to propose essay ideas or concepts. Emails should be sent to Baku‑Dialogues@ADA.edu.az, with “Proposal” indicated in the subject line and contact information contained in the body of the email. All such inquiries will be answered promptly.

We reiterate that Baku Dialogues is an independent policy journal. We are not a peer‑reviewed academic or semi‑academic journal. Submissions will be evaluated by our in‑house editorial team led by Editor‑in‑Chief and Executive Vice Rector of ADA University Fariz Ismailzade, in conjunction with the Director of Policy Research and Publications of ADA University, Damjan Krnjević Mišković, and through the counsel of the members of our Editorial Advisory Council, as appropriate. Baku Dialogues reserves the right to seek independent external editorial advice and guidance.
